ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 machine types

The ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 was sold in several configurations, so do not identify the laptop by the “T14 Gen 1” name alone. Check the full machine type first: press Windows + R, type msinfo32 and read the System Model line, or read the label on the bottom of the laptop.

  • 20S0, 20S1, 20S2 and 20S3 are the Intel-based T14 Gen 1 machine types covered here.
  • Wireless cards, fingerprint readers, card readers and cameras differ between individual configurations.
  • Every package here is for 64-bit Windows. Check Settings → System → About for the System type.

Tip: Lenovo lists these packages as shared between Windows 10 and Windows 11, but operating-system support can vary by package, so use the one-line notes below and check Lenovo Support if an installer refuses to run.

Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 driver downloads (Windows 10 & 11, 64-bit)

13 packages are listed. The source list does not publish file sizes, so none are shown. Several packages (mobile broadband, fingerprint, smart card) apply only to configurations that have that hardware.

Camera driver: no camera download is listed. Lenovo's camera packages depend on the camera module maker (Realtek 10.0.22000.20272, Sonix 10.13.19041.28 or Sunplus 5.0.18.168 are the versions Lenovo lists), and the old link for this row pointed at the smart card reader file. Get the camera driver for your machine type from Lenovo Support.

Recommended installation order

After a clean Windows install, installing system-related drivers first makes it easier for Windows to detect the rest. Restart whenever an installer asks you to.

  1. Graphics: the Intel driver first: go to this section.
  2. Audio: the Realtek audio driver: go to this section.
  3. Network: Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, plus the mobile broadband driver if your laptop has a modem: go to this section.
  4. Touchpad and TrackPoint: the UltraNav driver: go to this section.
  5. Fingerprint reader: only the package that matches your reader: go to this section.
  6. Card readers: the memory card reader, and the smart card reader if you have one: go to this section.
  7. BIOS update: only when a matching update is actually required, as a separate step with the AC adapter connected: BIOS update.

This is a practical sequence, not a requirement to install every package.

How to identify the correct driver for your T14 Gen 1

Two ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 laptops can share a name but use different component makers, which matters most for wireless adapters, fingerprint readers, card readers and cameras. Use Device Manager:

  1. Right-click the Start button and open Device Manager.
  2. Find the device with a yellow warning icon, or the device that is not working.
  3. Right-click it and choose Properties, then open the Details tab.
  4. Select Hardware Ids and compare them with the hardware described in the notes above.
  • Fingerprint reader: look under Biometric devices. No entry means you can skip both fingerprint packages.
  • Mobile broadband: a Fibocom modem entry means you need the L850-GL driver. No entry and no SIM slot means you can skip it.
  • Camera: look under Cameras or Imaging devices.

Common ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 driver problems

Wi-Fi is missing after installing Windows

Open Device Manager and check Network adapters. If the wireless controller is missing or shows as an unknown device, install the Intel Wireless LAN driver. If you have no connection to download it, fetch it on another PC and copy it over on a USB drive.

Bluetooth does not work

Check whether a Bluetooth entry appears in Device Manager. Reinstall the Intel Bluetooth driver after confirming that the wireless adapter itself is working.

The screen resolution is incorrect

Install the Intel graphics driver and restart. If the problem continues, check Display adapters in Device Manager to confirm the graphics device is recognised.

The fingerprint reader is not detected

Check Device Manager for a biometric device before installing a Synaptics or Crossmatch package. Installing the wrong fingerprint driver will not add a reader that is not physically present.

The camera is not detected

Check Cameras or Imaging devices in Device Manager. Because different camera makers are used, identify the hardware first and then download the matching package from Lenovo Support.

Device Manager still shows an unknown device

Use Properties, Details and Hardware Ids to determine the device. This is more reliable than choosing a driver based on a generic name.

BIOS and firmware safety

BIOS and firmware updates are different from ordinary drivers. Use a package intended for the exact ThinkPad family and machine type, connect the AC adapter, save your work and do not power off the computer while the update is running.

For critical firmware, Lenovo's official support pages should be treated as the primary source. Cloud Drivers is an independent reference to the Lenovo packages linked here.

Frequently asked questions

Which machine types does this ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 page cover?

It covers the Intel-based ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 machine types 20S0, 20S1, 20S2 and 20S3. To confirm yours, press Windows + R, type msinfo32 and read the System Model line, which starts with the four-character machine type. The label on the bottom of the laptop shows the same code.

Are these drivers for Windows 10 and Windows 11?

The packages are listed for 64-bit Windows 10 and 64-bit Windows 11, and the listed Lenovo packages are commonly shared between the two. Operating-system support can still vary by package, so read the information shown with the package on Lenovo Support if an installer refuses to run.

Should I install every driver listed here?

No. Install the drivers that match hardware your T14 actually has. The mobile broadband modem, the fingerprint reader and the smart card reader are optional, and a driver cannot add a device that is not physically installed.

Why are there two fingerprint drivers?

Different T14 Gen 1 configurations used fingerprint readers from different makers. Open Device Manager, check Biometric devices, and read the Hardware Ids of the reader to decide between the Synaptics and the Crossmatch package.

Why is there no camera download on this page?

Lenovo's camera drivers depend on the maker of the camera module (Realtek, Sonix or Sunplus). The old version of this page linked the camera to the same file as the smart card reader driver, so the camera row was removed. Download the camera driver from Lenovo Support for your machine type, using the Hardware Ids in Device Manager to pick the right one.

Why is there no chipset driver in the list?

The Lenovo list this page is based on contains no chipset package for the T14 Gen 1. Windows Update normally installs the chipset drivers on its own, and you can also search Lenovo Support for your machine type.

Is it safe to update the BIOS?

A BIOS update is safe when done carefully. Use a package intended for the exact ThinkPad family and machine type, connect the AC adapter, save your work and do not power the laptop off during the update. Check your current version with msinfo32 first and only update if you have a reason to.

Are these download links safe?

Every Download button points to Lenovo's own download server at download.lenovo.com, and nothing is re-hosted on this site. After downloading, right-click the file, choose Properties and look for a Digital Signatures tab to confirm it is signed.

A download link does not work. What should I do?

Lenovo occasionally moves or retires files. Search for the ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 on Lenovo Support and select your exact machine type and Windows version, or leave a comment below so this page can be updated.
