How to identify your exact ThinkPad T14 hardware
The machine type alone does not always tell you which optional package you need. Before downloading a wireless, graphics, fingerprint or card reader driver, identify the actual hardware in Windows:
- Press Windows + X and open Device Manager.
- Expand the relevant category, such as Network adapters, Display adapters, Bluetooth or Biometric devices.
- Right-click the device and choose Properties.
- Open Details and choose Hardware Ids when the device is unknown.
- Match the maker and device family with the right package in the table.
Recommended installation order
After a clean Windows install, a logical sequence makes troubleshooting easier. Restart whenever an installer asks you to.

Windows 11 and Windows 10 considerations
Lenovo lists Windows 11 64-bit and Windows 10 64-bit packages for this ThinkPad family. Microsoft ended standard Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, so Windows 10 still runs but no longer receives the normal free security updates. Consider Windows 11 if your laptop meets its requirements. Windows 10 drivers remain relevant for installations that still use Windows 10 or have an extended-security arrangement.

Common ThinkPad T14 Gen 1 driver problems
Wi-Fi is missing after reinstalling Windows
