Samsung N145 Plus Drivers for Windows XP and Windows 7 (32-bit)
The Samsung N145 Plus is a 10.1-inch netbook from 2010–2011 with an Intel Atom N450 processor and Windows 7 Starter preinstalled. If you have reinstalled Windows on it or are bringing an old unit back to life, you need the matching Samsung drivers to get the screen resolution, Wi-Fi, sound and touchpad working properly. This page lists only the essential driver packages for Windows 7 (32-bit) and Windows XP (32-bit), with the version number of each file, plus a short guide on choosing the correct Wi-Fi driver and installing everything in the right order.
Samsung N145 Plus at a glance
Specifications come from published listings and reviews of the N145 family (Product in Detail, Notebookcheck). Hard drive size, port count and wireless hardware differ between regional versions, so check your own unit.
Step 1: Find out which Wi-Fi chip your N145 Plus has
This is the step most people get wrong. Samsung used wireless adapters from different manufacturers in this netbook, so there is no single Wi-Fi driver for every unit. Installing the wrong one simply does nothing, so check first:
- Open Device Manager (right-click Computer or My Computer → Manage → Device Manager).
- Look under Network adapters. If the Wi-Fi adapter has no driver yet, it appears under Other devices as “Network Controller”.
- Right-click it → Properties → Details tab → choose Hardware Ids and read the first line.
- Match the vendor code in that line:
VEN_168C— Atheros (on Windows 7, try the Qualcomm Atheros package if the adapter name starts with “Qualcomm Atheros”)VEN_14E4— BroadcomVEN_8086— IntelVEN_10EC— Realtek
Step 2: Download — Samsung N145 Plus drivers for Windows 7 (32-bit)
These are the 32-bit packages for Windows 7, the system family the N145 Plus shipped with (Windows 7 Starter). On a netbook with 1 GB of memory, 32-bit is the practical choice. Samsung’s list for Windows 7 has no separate webcam package; if the camera is not detected, check Device Manager for an unknown imaging device.
Samsung N145 Plus drivers for Windows XP (32-bit)
For a 32-bit Windows XP installation. The XP set has no Qualcomm Atheros package (the regular Atheros package is used instead) and no separate touchpad driver.
org.downloadcenter.samsung.com). This blog does not host or modify any driver files. Samsung’s servers for older products change from time to time, so if a link fails, search for the model code NP-N145-JP01US on Samsung’s support site and look for the same file name under downloads. Samsung’s optional utilities (Easy Display Manager and Easy Network Manager) are not needed for the hardware to work, so they are left out here.Step 3: Install the drivers in this order
Download the ZIP files on another computer if the netbook has no working network yet, and copy them over with a USB drive. Then:
- Chipset — restart when asked.
- Graphics (Intel GMA 3150) — restart again. The screen should then run at its native 1024 × 600.
- LAN — lets you use a network cable straight away.
- Wi-Fi — only the package that matches the vendor you found in Step 1.
- Audio, then TouchPad (Windows 7) or Camera (Windows XP).
- Bluetooth — only if your unit has it.
Each ZIP needs to be extracted first. Run Setup.exe as administrator if the package has one. If it only contains driver files, use Device Manager → right-click the device → Update Driver Software → Browse my computer and point it to the extracted folder.
Troubleshooting common N145 Plus problems
- Blurry or stretched screen: the graphics driver is not installed yet. Install Chipset first, restart, then install the Intel graphics package.
- No Wi-Fi networks appear: make sure the wireless radio is switched on with the Fn key combination printed on the keyboard, then confirm the driver matches the vendor code from Step 1.
- Touchpad moves but cannot scroll: on Windows 7 install the TouchPad package and restart.
- No sound: install the Audio package, then check that the speaker is not muted in the volume mixer.
- Driver installer says the device was not found: you probably chose the wrong variant. Re-check the hardware ID of that device.
Frequently asked questions
Which operating systems do these drivers support?
The packages on this page are the 32-bit Windows XP and Windows 7 drivers that Samsung published for the N145 Plus. The netbook originally shipped with Windows 7 Starter.
Can I run a newer version of Windows on the N145 Plus?
Samsung’s driver list for this model covers Windows XP and Windows 7 only, and a single-core Atom with 1 GB of memory is a weak fit for newer Windows versions, so they are not covered here.
Why are there several Wi-Fi drivers?
Different units use wireless adapters from different manufacturers (Atheros, Broadcom, Intel or Realtek). Use Step 1 to see which one yours has, and install only that package.
Do I need the Bluetooth driver?
Only if your unit has Bluetooth hardware. If Device Manager does not list a Bluetooth radio, skip it.
A download link does not work. What should I do?
Samsung occasionally reorganizes the download server for older products. Search for the file name on Samsung’s support site using the model code above, or leave a comment with the driver name and Windows version and we will check it.
