Step 1: Check your Windows version

Choose the section that matches both your Windows version and a 64-bit system type. Lenovo publishes only 64-bit packages for this model, and a driver built for another Windows version will usually refuse to install.

  1. Press Windows + R, type msinfo32 and press Enter.
  2. Look at OS Name (Windows 7, 8.1 or 10) and System Type. It must read x64-based PC.

Step 2: Download the drivers

Windows 10 tip: Windows Update often installs generic drivers on its own. The Lenovo packages are still worth installing for the graphics driver (correct resolution and acceleration), the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth card and the touchpad.

Drivers not listed on this page

To keep this page focused, it lists only the drivers needed to get the laptop fully working. The BIOS update, camera, card reader and brightness packages are left out; if you need them, search for 100-15IBY on Lenovo Support.

Recommended installation order

Installing in the right order avoids most conflicts. Restart whenever an installer asks you to.

  1. Chipset: other drivers rely on it. On Windows 7, install USB 3.0 right after.
  2. Graphics: restores the native 1366 × 768 resolution and smooth video.
  3. LAN and Wi-Fi: gets you online for Windows updates.
  4. Audio.
  5. Bluetooth.
  6. Touchpad: enables scrolling and gestures.

Fixing common problems

Symptoms after reinstalling Windows and what to try
ProblemWhat to try
No Wi-Fi after a clean installDownload the Wi-Fi driver on another device and copy it over on a USB stick, or share your phone's connection over USB tethering. Install the LAN driver first if you can use a cable.
Screen looks stretched or stuck at a low resolutionInstall the Intel graphics (VGA) driver, restart, then set 1366 × 768 in display settings.
No soundInstall the Realtek audio driver, then right-click the speaker icon and make sure the speakers are the default playback device.
Bluetooth missingWi-Fi and Bluetooth share one combo card, so install the Wi-Fi driver as well and check that airplane mode is off.
Touchpad does not scroll or tapInstall the touchpad driver, then review the touchpad options in Windows settings.
Installer says the system is not supportedYou are probably using a package for a different Windows version or a 32-bit system. Re-check Step 1.
Yellow warning icon in Device ManagerRight-click the device, choose Properties, open Details and select Hardware Ids. The vendor/device code tells you which driver the device needs.

Download safely

  • All links on this page go to download.lenovo.com. This blog does not host or modify any files.
  • After downloading, right-click the installer, open Properties → Digital Signatures and check that it is signed by Lenovo, Intel or Realtek.
  • Avoid "driver updater" programs; they are a common source of unwanted software.

About Windows support: Microsoft no longer provides regular security updates for Windows 7 (ended January 2020), Windows 8.1 (January 2023) or Windows 10 (October 2025). This Bay Trail-based laptop also does not meet the official hardware requirements of Windows 11. If you keep using it online, use an up-to-date browser and security software that still supports your Windows version.

Frequently asked questions

Is the IdeaPad 100-15IBY the same as the 100-15IBD?

No. The "IBY" model uses an Intel Bay Trail Celeron or Pentium processor, while the "IBD" model uses a newer Broadwell-generation processor, so many drivers are different. Check the model name on the label under the laptop and use only drivers for 100-15IBY.

Can I use these drivers on 32-bit Windows?

No. Lenovo provides 64-bit packages for this model, so install a 64-bit edition of Windows.

Which Windows version should I choose?

Windows 10 (64-bit) is the newest system with driver packages for this laptop, so it is the better choice unless you specifically need Windows 7 or 8.1 for older software.

Do I need to update the BIOS when I reinstall drivers?

No. A normal driver reinstall does not require a BIOS update. Flash the BIOS only if Lenovo's release notes describe a problem you actually have, and keep the charger connected during the update.

A driver is installed but the device still does not work. What now?

Restart, then compare the device's Hardware Ids in Device Manager with the hardware listed at the top of this page. If it is a different chip, search Lenovo Support for the exact model and Windows version.
