Dell Inspiron 5458 Drivers for Windows 7 & 10 – Official Links
The Dell Inspiron 5458 belongs to the Inspiron 15 5000 series, and a fresh Windows installation usually leaves a few devices without drivers: most often Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, graphics and sometimes sound. This guide lists the Dell Inspiron 5458 drivers for Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) and Windows 10 (64-bit), explains what each package does, and shows an install order that avoids the usual problems. Check your Windows version and hardware first
The Inspiron 5458 was sold with different wireless cards and with or without a dedicated NVIDIA graphics chip, so not every package below applies to every laptop. A two-minute check saves you from installing the wrong files.
1. Find your Windows version and bit type
- Windows 7: right-click Computer, choose Properties and read the System type line.
- Windows 10: open Settings, then System, then About and read System type.
2. Identify your Wi-Fi and graphics hardware
Open Device Manager and expand two groups:
- Network adapters: a name starting with Intel (for example 3160, 3165 or 7265) means you need the Intel Wi-Fi and Bluetooth packages. A name starting with Dell Wireless (1704, 1707 or 1708) means you need the Dell Wireless packages. Install only the family that matches your card.
- Display adapters: Intel HD Graphics is always present. Install the NVIDIA package only if an NVIDIA device is listed as well.

Recommended installation order
Windows resolves hardware dependencies more reliably when the base drivers go in first. After a clean install, this order works well:
- Chipset (Intel Chipset Driver, plus the USB 3.0 driver on Windows 7). Restart if asked.
- Intel HD Graphics, then the NVIDIA driver if your laptop has one.
- Network: Ethernet, then Wi-Fi, then Bluetooth, then the airplane-mode driver on Windows 10.
- Audio (Realtek High Definition Audio).
- Touchpad and card reader, then any optional utilities.
Tip: if the laptop has no internet after a fresh install, download the Wi-Fi or Ethernet package on another device and copy it over on a USB drive.
Troubleshooting common problems
- The installer says no compatible hardware was found. You have most likely picked a package for a component your laptop does not contain, such as the wrong wireless card or the NVIDIA driver on an Intel-only model. Recheck Device Manager.
- No Wi-Fi after reinstalling Windows. Use the Ethernet port or another device to fetch the Wi-Fi package that matches your card, install it, and restart.
- Wrong screen resolution or flickering. Install the Intel HD Graphics driver first and the NVIDIA driver afterwards.
- No sound. Install the Realtek audio driver, restart, then open the Sound settings and set your speakers as the default playback device.
- Touchpad gestures do not work. Reinstall the Dell Touchpad driver and restart, then check the Mouse settings in Control Panel.
- A download stops halfway. Large packages such as the audio and graphics drivers can be several hundred megabytes. Retry on a stable connection.

Which section should I use, 32-bit or 64-bit?
Open System information on your laptop and read the System type line. In Windows 7 right-click Computer and choose Properties; in Windows 10 open Settings, then System, then About. Use the section that matches both your Windows version and its 32-bit or 64-bit label.
Do I need the NVIDIA graphics driver?
Only if your Inspiron 5458 has a dedicated NVIDIA chip. Open Device Manager and expand Display adapters. If you see only Intel HD Graphics, skip the NVIDIA package; if an NVIDIA device is listed, install the Intel graphics driver first and the NVIDIA driver after it.
Which Wi-Fi and Bluetooth driver is the right one?
It depends on the wireless card inside your laptop. Open Device Manager, expand Network adapters and look at the wireless adapter name. An Intel name means you need the Intel packages, a Dell Wireless name means you need the Dell Wireless packages. Install only the family that matches your card.
Can I install these drivers on Windows 11?
The packages on this page are the ones Dell publishes for Windows 7 and Windows 10. Windows 11 has stricter processor requirements, so check Microsoft's PC Health Check tool before upgrading. If you do run Windows 11, Windows Update normally supplies basic drivers for common hardware.
