Before you download
- Confirm Windows is 64-bit. Press Windows + Pause (or open PC settings → PC and devices → PC info) and look for "64-bit operating system". The packages below will not install on 32-bit Windows.
- Check your exact model. The sticker on the bottom of the laptop shows the full name, for example X455LA or X455LD. This matters for graphics: the X455LA uses Intel graphics only, while most other X455L variants add a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce chip.
- Check your hardware in Device Manager. Press Windows + X and choose Device Manager. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips differ between units, so see the identification table before downloading those two.

Which Wi-Fi and Bluetooth driver do I need?
ASUS shipped this series with chips from several makers, so the right package depends on your unit. To find out:
- Open Device Manager and expand Network adapters (Wi-Fi) or Bluetooth. If the device shows a yellow warning icon under Other devices, right-click it and choose Properties.
- Open the Details tab, select Hardware Ids in the drop-down, and read the first line.
- Match the vendor code in that line with the table below.
| Maker | Wi-Fi code (PCI) | Bluetooth code (USB) |
|---|---|---|
| Realtek | VEN_10EC | VID_0BDA |
| Qualcomm Atheros | VEN_168C | VID_0CF3 |
| Broadcom | VEN_14E4 | VID_0A5C |
| Intel | VEN_8086 | VID_8087 |
If the laptop has no working internet at all, download the Wi-Fi package on another device, copy it over with a USB drive, or connect an Ethernet cable first.
Recommended install order
- Chipset (Intel INF Update), then restart.
- Intel Graphics, then the NVIDIA driver if your model has one, then restart.
- Audio and LAN.
- Wi-Fi, then Bluetooth.
- ATKPackage, restart, then Smart Gesture.
Installing the chipset first lets Windows recognise the rest of the hardware properly, and installing ATKPackage before Smart Gesture makes the Fn keys and touchpad settings load correctly.
Common problems and fixes
"No compatible hardware" or the installer closes immediately
You most likely picked the wrong maker for Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Re-check the Hardware ID in Device Manager and download the matching package.
Fn keys, brightness keys or airplane-mode key do not work
Install ATKPackage and restart. The hotkeys depend on it.
Touchpad scrolling and gestures are missing
Install ASUS Smart Gesture after ATKPackage, then open Control Panel → Mouse to adjust the gesture settings.
Screen resolution is stuck low or the display looks stretched
Install the Intel Graphics driver first and restart. Graphics from the NVIDIA package should only be added afterwards.
No sound after installing the audio driver
Right-click the speaker icon, open Playback devices, and make sure the Conexant speakers are set as the default device.
FAQ
Do these drivers work on Windows 7, 10 or 32-bit Windows?
No. These packages are for Windows 8.1 64-bit. For other Windows versions, check the ASUS Support page for your exact model.
Do I need every driver on this page?
No. Install one Wi-Fi driver and one Bluetooth driver (the ones that match your hardware), and the NVIDIA driver only if your model has an NVIDIA GPU. Everything else applies to all X455L units.
Is Windows 8.1 still supported by Microsoft?
No. Microsoft ended support for Windows 8.1 on January 10, 2023, so it no longer receives security updates. If the laptop goes online regularly, consider upgrading to a newer Windows version supported on your hardware.
Why are some drivers from 2014 or 2015?
The X455L is an older model and ASUS stopped releasing new Windows 8.1 packages for it. The versions listed here are the ones ASUS published for this laptop.
