Dell Vostro 2520 Drivers: Windows 10 & 7 (32/64-bit)

Which drivers does your Vostro 2520 need?
This model was sold with different hardware options, so not every package below fits every unit. Check these three things first:
- 32-bit or 64-bit? Windows 10: Settings → System → About. Windows 7: Control Panel → System. Look for "System type". Most packages here work on both, and the table's Windows column tells you which.
- Which graphics? Open Device Manager → Display adapters. Every unit has Intel HD Graphics. Install the NVIDIA GeForce GT 620M driver only if an NVIDIA chip is listed as well.
- Which wireless card? Open Device Manager → Network adapters. On Windows 10, a card named Dell Wireless 1703 needs the 1703 package and a 1506 needs the 1506 package. On Windows 7, use the Wi-Fi + Bluetooth package if your unit has Bluetooth; otherwise start with the Wi-Fi package. If an installer reports no supported hardware, try the other one.
Dell Vostro 2520 BIOS
The BIOS is a system package, so the same file applies to Windows 7 and Windows 10. Update it only if you need the fix or want the latest firmware, and never interrupt the update.

Dell Vostro 2520 drivers for Windows 7
Windows 7 needs more manual installs than Windows 10. Note that Microsoft ended Windows 7 security updates in January 2020, so avoid sensitive logins on such a laptop and keep it offline where you can.

Recommended install order
No separate chipset package is listed for this model, so start with whatever gets you online and work down the list:
- LAN or Wi-Fi first, so Windows Update and later downloads work.
- Graphics: Intel HD Graphics first, then the NVIDIA driver only if your unit has an NVIDIA chip. Restart when asked.
- Audio, then Bluetooth if you use it.
- Touchpad for scrolling and gestures.
- BIOS last, and only if needed. Keep the AC adapter plugged in, close other programs and do not turn the laptop off while the firmware is being written.
Common problems and quick fixes
- No networks appear in the Wi-Fi list: the installed wireless package probably does not match your card. Check the card name in Device Manager and try the other package.
- Screen looks stretched or blurry: the graphics driver is missing. Install the Intel HD Graphics package for your Windows bit version, then restart.
- No sound: install the Cirrus Logic audio driver for your Windows version, then check that the correct playback device is set as default.
- Touchpad scrolling does not work: install the Dell Touchpad driver and enable scrolling in Mouse properties.
- Installer refuses to run: compare the Windows column with your "System type" and use the matching file.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need both the Intel and the NVIDIA graphics driver?
Only if your laptop has the optional NVIDIA GeForce GT 620M. Units with just Intel HD Graphics need only the Intel driver.
Is the Vostro 2520 compatible with Windows 11?
Not officially. Its older Intel Core processors fall outside Microsoft's supported CPU list for Windows 11, which is why this page covers Windows 10 and Windows 7 only.
Should I update the BIOS after reinstalling Windows?
Not necessarily. If everything works, the BIOS can stay as it is. When you do update, use version A11 from the table, keep the laptop on AC power and do not interrupt it.
