Samsung NP-RV720 Drivers: Windows 7 & XP Download + Install Guide
The Samsung NP-RV720 is a 17.3-inch notebook from Samsung's RV series. It was sold with Windows 7, and Samsung's download center also lists Windows XP (32-bit) drivers for it. Before you download: three checks
1. Find your Windows version and bit type
Right-click Computer, choose Properties, and read System type. It says 32-bit or 64-bit. Installing a 64-bit driver on 32-bit Windows (or the reverse) fails with an error, so check first.
2. Find out which Wi-Fi card you have
The NP-RV720 shipped with different wireless cards depending on region, so there is no single Wi-Fi driver for every unit. To identify yours:
- Open Device Manager and expand Network adapters.
- Double-click the wireless adapter (or the "Network Controller" with a yellow warning icon if no driver is installed yet).
- Open the Details tab, choose Hardware Ids, and read the

Install only the Wi-Fi driver that matches. The same trick works for any unknown device: the VEN code tells you the vendor, and the DEV code tells you the exact chip.
3. Download on another device first
After a clean Windows install the laptop usually has no network driver, so you can't download anything on it. Download the LAN and Wi-Fi packages on another computer and copy them over on a USB drive.

Samsung NP-RV720 drivers for Windows XP (32-bit)
Windows XP versions are older builds of the same drivers (for example NVIDIA 6.14.12.6704 instead of 8.17.12.6754). Do not mix Windows 7 files into an XP install.

If a button above doesn't work, or your model code differs, go to the Samsung Support website and search for NP-RV720. The NP-RV720 was sold under several regional codes (for example NP-RV720-S01xx and NP-RV720-S02xx), so use the exact code printed on the label under the laptop. Then filter the downloads by your Windows version.
Recommended installation order
- Chipset (so Windows recognizes the motherboard hardware correctly).
- NVIDIA graphics.
- Audio.
- LAN, then the one matching Wi-Fi driver.
- Bluetooth and Touchpad.
- Easy Display Manager and Easy Network Manager, if you want Samsung's utilities.
- Restart the laptop after the whole set is installed, or sooner if a driver asks for it.
To install a downloaded ZIP: right-click it, choose Extract All, open the extracted folder and run Setup.exe (or the installer file inside). If a package contains only INF files, use Device Manager → Update Driver Software → Browse my computer and point it to the extracted folder.
BIOS update warning
Only flash the BIOS if you have a specific problem it fixes. Keep the charger plugged in, close all other programs, and never turn the laptop off during the update. An interrupted BIOS flash can stop the laptop from starting.
Common Samsung NP-RV720 driver problems
No Wi-Fi after installing Windows
The wireless card varies by unit. Check the VEN_ code in Device Manager (see step 2 above) and install only that vendor's driver. If the Wi-Fi switch combination on the keyboard is off, the adapter can also be disabled even with the right driver.
No sound or microphone
Install the Audio driver for your Windows version and restart. If Device Manager still shows an "Unknown device" under Sound, video and game controllers, reinstall the chipset driver first and then the audio driver.
External monitor or HDMI not working
Install the NVIDIA graphics driver and, optionally, Easy Display Manager. Then press Windows + P (Windows 7) and choose Duplicate or Extend.
Screen stuck at low resolution
This means the graphics driver is missing. Windows is using its basic display driver. Install the NVIDIA package for your Windows version and restart.
Can I install Windows 10 on the NP-RV720?
The drivers Samsung lists for this model cover Windows 7 and Windows XP only. Windows 10 may install and use generic drivers from Windows Update, but there is no official support, so some features such as the Samsung utilities or full graphics acceleration may not work.
