Before Installing a Z70-80 Driver

1. Confirm the exact model Check the label on the bottom of the notebook or open System Information and confirm that the machine is a Lenovo Z70-80.
2. Check Windows architecture The packages listed on this page are for 64-bit Windows versions unless explicitly stated otherwise.
3. Identify the hardware vendor Some Z70-80 units use different wireless, Bluetooth or touchpad components. Device Manager is the safest way to confirm the hardware before installing an optional driver.
4. Create a restore point or backup Legacy operating systems and old driver packages can behave differently after an upgrade. Back up important files before making major driver changes.

Which Graphics Driver Should You Install?

The Z70-80 platform can appear with Intel HD Graphics 5500 alone or with an additional NVIDIA GeForce 840M GPU. Do not install the NVIDIA package simply because it is listed for the model. First confirm whether NVIDIA hardware is present.

Intel graphics only Install the Intel VGA package when Device Manager shows Intel HD Graphics 5500 and no NVIDIA GPU.
Intel + NVIDIA configuration Install the Intel graphics package and the matching NVIDIA package when the notebook contains both GPUs.
Unknown display adapter Use Hardware IDs in Device Manager to identify the device before choosing a legacy driver.

Recommended Driver Installation Order

For a clean Windows installation, a practical sequence is to install the chipset package first, followed by graphics, network, audio, touchpad and other device-specific drivers.

01. Chipset Establish the platform and controller drivers.
02. Graphics Install Intel first, then NVIDIA when applicable.
03. Network Install LAN/WLAN/Bluetooth so connectivity is available.
04. Audio Install the correct audio package after the platform drivers.
Tip: After the first restart, open Device Manager and check for devices still marked with a yellow warning icon. Those entries are the best starting point for identifying missing drivers.

Windows Support and Compatibility Note

These archived driver packages are useful when maintaining an older Lenovo Z70-80 installation, but the operating-system lifecycle should also be considered.

Windows 10: Microsoft ended Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. The Z70-80 driver packages remain useful for existing installations, but Windows 10 should not be described as a currently supported mainstream Microsoft platform.
Windows 8.1: Microsoft ended support for Windows 8.1 on January 10, 2023.
Windows 7: Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 on January 14, 2020.

Before installing an older operating system, consider your security requirements, application compatibility and whether the hardware can be used with a newer supported Windows release.

Lenovo Z70-80 Driver FAQ

Does the Lenovo Z70-80 support Windows 10 64-bit drivers?
Yes. Lenovo provides model-specific Windows 10 64-bit driver packages for components including chipset, graphics, audio, LAN, WLAN, Bluetooth and touchpad.
Why are there separate Intel and NVIDIA graphics drivers?
The Z70-80 platform was sold in different hardware configurations. Some units use Intel HD Graphics 5500 only, while some include an NVIDIA GeForce 840M discrete GPU. Check Device Manager before selecting the NVIDIA package.
Which touchpad driver should I use?
Lenovo's packages cover both Synaptics and ELAN hardware variants. If the touchpad is not detected after installation, identify the hardware vendor in Device Manager and use the matching Lenovo package.
Why does an older driver show a 2014, 2015, 2016 or 2017 release date?
The Z70-80 is an older platform, so the official packages were released many years ago. The release date reflects the OEM package, not the date this Cloud Drivers page was updated.
Are these Cloud Drivers drivers modified?
This page is an organizational reference. Driver downloads are linked to the original Lenovo support resources rather than presenting modified third-party driver packages as official Lenovo software.
