Acer Aspire E1-431 Drivers for Windows 7, 8 & 8.1 – Compatibility, Install Order & Where to Find Them.

Acer Aspire E1-431 Drivers for Windows

The Acer Aspire E1-431 is a 14-inch budget notebook from the early 2010s, built around an Intel Celeron or Pentium processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics. It shipped with Windows 7 or Windows 8, and Windows 8.1 was offered as an upgrade. This guide explains which drivers the laptop needs, the order to install them in, how to identify each device yourself, and how to fix the most common problems after a clean Windows install.

Important – official download links are no longer available. Acer has retired the driver downloads for this older model. The Acer "Drivers and Manuals" page no longer provides direct download links for the Aspire E1-431, and we do not host or re-upload driver files here. Instead, this page shows you how to identify every component and how to obtain a safe, matching driver through legitimate sources that are still online (see Where to get the drivers today).

Where to get the drivers today

Because the manufacturer no longer offers downloads for this model, use the sources below, in this order. Always prefer a source run by the hardware maker or by Microsoft over random "driver download" sites.

  1. Windows Update. On Windows 7, 8 and 8.1, open Windows Update and choose Check for updates, then look at the optional updates. Many Intel, Realtek and Atheros drivers are delivered this way.
  2. Microsoft Update Catalog. Search for the device name or hardware ID (see the next section) at catalog.update.microsoft.com. Catalog files are signed by the hardware vendor and tested by Microsoft.
  3. The chip maker's own site. Intel (chipset and graphics), Realtek (audio and LAN), Qualcomm Atheros or Broadcom (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth) and ALPS (touchpad) may still host generic drivers for these chips. Generic drivers can lack Acer-specific features, so test them after installing.
  4. A backup you made earlier. If the laptop still runs its original Windows, export the installed drivers before reinstalling (see the tip below).
  5. The original Acer recovery media. A recovery partition or recovery USB made with Acer eRecovery contains the factory drivers.
Tip – back up drivers before reinstalling Windows. Open Command Prompt as administrator and run dism /online /export-driver /destination:D:\DriverBackup (change D:\DriverBackup to any existing folder). After the reinstall, point Device Manager to that folder with Update driver → Browse my computer.

Find the exact driver by hardware ID

  1. Right-click Start (or Computer on Windows 7) and open Device Manager.
  2. Right-click any device marked with a yellow warning icon or listed as Unknown device and choose Properties.
  3. Open the Details tab and select Hardware Ids.
  4. Copy the first line (for example PCI\VEN_xxxx&DEV_xxxx). The VEN code tells you the manufacturer and DEV the exact chip. Search for it in the Microsoft Update Catalog or on the chip maker's website.

Recommended installation order

  1. Intel Chipset
  2. Intel HD Graphics
  3. Realtek Audio
  4. LAN and WLAN (Wi-Fi) drivers
  5. Bluetooth (if your model has it)
  6. ALPS Touchpad
  7. Intel USB 3.0 (if your model has it)
  8. Restart the laptop

Installing the chipset driver first lets Windows detect the remaining hardware correctly, which prevents many "device not recognized" errors.

Troubleshooting common problems

No Wi-Fi after installing Windows

The E1-431 shipped with different wireless modules. Open Device Manager, expand Network adapters and note the exact name, or read the hardware ID of the unknown network device. Install the driver for that specific module. If you have no internet at all, copy the driver from another computer using a USB drive or connect the LAN cable first.

No sound

Install the Realtek audio driver, restart, and check Device Manager for any remaining unknown devices. Also confirm that the speakers are set as the default playback device in Sound settings.

Touchpad gestures or scrolling do not work

The touchpad is made by ALPS. Windows' generic mouse driver gives you basic pointing only. Install the ALPS-specific driver to enable two-finger scrolling and the other gestures.

Screen resolution is wrong or the display looks stretched

This means the Intel HD Graphics driver is missing and Windows is using the basic display adapter. Install the Intel graphics driver for your Windows version and restart.

Can I install Windows 10 on the Aspire E1-431?

Acer published no official Windows 10 drivers for this model. Windows 10 may run and Windows Update can add generic drivers, but some features, such as touchpad gestures or Bluetooth, can be limited. Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 remain the best-matched systems for this hardware.

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no Acer download button on this page?

Acer no longer provides direct driver links for the Aspire E1-431, and we do not want to send you to unverified file hosts. Unofficial driver packs are a common way to pick up malware or bundled adware, so this guide focuses on safe, verifiable sources.

Will drivers for the E1-431G or E1-471 work on my E1-431?

Not reliably. The "G" variant adds a dedicated graphics chip, and the E1-471 uses a different platform. Using their drivers can cause crashes or missing devices. Always match the model name printed on the label under your laptop.

Is the 32-bit or the 64-bit driver right for me?

It depends on your installed Windows, not on the laptop. Press Windows + Pause and read System type.
